Will he survive this brain injury?
I am a 7 year traumatic brain injury survivor. I was in a coma for 1 month and remained in the hospital for 3. My Mom decided to take me home (against hospital wishes) to care for me herself. I feel this is why I healed to where I am today.
I am independent, married, and a mother to two now. It has been a long 7 years and the beginning looked bad. Dr's told everyone that I would die, and I lived. They said I would not walk on my own or fully speak again and I am.
Ignore what dr's suspect and just be there for your friend. Tell the family of your friend toput pictures, etc. in the hospital room. Talk a lot with him/her.
Al in all, have faith. It does not have to come from a religious perspective, just have hope. It is your friend and a highr power that will decide how he/she comes through.
I wish you and your friend the best.
Also, if your friend pulls through:
All will be forever hanged in your friend. Do a lot of reserach online and in books about this injury and the affects.Although all people wil hold different parts in recovery, this can help you to accept all that occurs from the outcome of al of this.
